Ātma-Bodha: Self-Reflective LLMs
A novel language model architecture incorporating Indian philosophical concepts for metacognitive reasoning
Project Summary: Ātma-Bodha is a novel architecture for metacognitive language models that can effectively reason about their own knowledge and uncertainty. The approach draws from Nyāya epistemology and Pratyabhijñā philosophy to create a system that implements reflective attention mechanisms, self-recognition modules, and error correction circuits.
While industry leaders like Anthropic and OpenAI are developing sophisticated reflection capabilities through scale and proprietary methods, this research explores an alternative, philosophically-grounded approach focused on understanding fundamental principles of machine self-awareness. The experimental results demonstrate promising metacognitive abilities across diverse domains with a lightweight architecture.
