Research Philosophy

Through metacognitive architectures, structured reasoning frameworks, and transparent introspection, I am building a new generation of language models:

  • Systems that know not just what they know, but how they know it.
  • Systems that recognize their own uncertainty, self-correct their mistakes, and faithfully explain their reasoning.
  • Systems that align advanced cognitive abilities with human trust, safety, and collaboration.

I believe the future of AI lies not in scaling blindly, but in unlocking deeper layers of understanding — systems that think about their thinking and open their cognition to the world.

The REFLECT Framework

At the core of my research is the REFLECT framework, which represents a holistic approach to understanding and developing more nuanced AI systems:

  • Reasoning in LLMs: Investigating logical reasoning capabilities of large language models
  • Emergence of Intelligence: Understanding how complex cognitive behaviors emerge from simple computational structures
  • Frameworks from Ancient Wisdom: Drawing insights from classical philosophical traditions to inform AI design
  • Language Model Architecture: Developing innovative architectural approaches to improve AI reasoning
  • Epistemological Modeling: Exploring computational methods of knowledge acquisition and validation
  • Cognition in AI Systems: Mimicking and understanding cognitive processes in artificial intelligence
  • Transparency of Models: Creating more interpretable and explainable AI systems

Academic Background

With experience in technical leadership across Meta and multiple startups, alongside a PhD in Computer Science, I have a uniquely interdisciplinary perspective to AI research—one that bridges theory and practice. My work lives at the intersection of computer science, philosophy, and cognitive science, aiming to ground cutting-edge innovation in deep conceptual foundations.

Professional Journey

As a Director of Engineering at Meta, I lead teams developing high-performance infrastructure systems. However, my passion extends beyond immediate technical challenges to the broader philosophical and cognitive implications of artificial intelligence.

Research Motivations

I believe that the next frontier of AI lies not just in increasing computational power, but in developing systems that can truly understand their own limitations, reflect on their reasoning processes, and integrate insights from diverse intellectual traditions.
