Who has not had a child that said, "I am not sleepy. I don't want to go to sleep" even though sleep was ready to take them over. Brilliant book. Caldecott Honor 2013.
Caldecott Honor 2012. This is about Grandpa green, who is a horticulturist and creates a garden with his memories. Beautiful perspective. As with all Caldecott books, the illustrations are out of the world.
Beautiful book by Rocco. Caldecott Honor - 2012.
I came across this video by Rocco. He shares a sweet moment about how he reacted when he got the call from Caldecott committee. It is beautiful.
2012 Caldecott Medal. Chris talks beautifully about 'Painting from memory', which results in painting with emotion. Wonderful talk.

A book that is sheer joy. As you flip the pages, it just fills your heart with warmth and joy. Loved it. There is so much movement and flight.
Caldecott Honor 2014
This is a great talk by Molly Idle at National Book Festival. She talks about her process, her mom's belief, importance drawing from observation...
I love how she talks about drawing simple shapes and connecting the shapes. Very fascinating process.
Caldecott 2013 Medal winner.
Jon Klassen is a genius illustrator (one of my favorite ones). He experiments with different mediums but his work has a minimalistic feel to it. He balances his colors and shades very well and also controls the negative space. The dark feel to the illustrations are mesmerizing. (Digital illustrations + Chinese ink)
This is a cute story.
